These rankings are based on estimates, the values of which are always hard to provide because of piracy in the music industry, inaccuracy of figures and values reported by recording companies, the fact that a sale in the store or a music download over the internet always happen every minute and every second all over the world, and other factors.

so i guess i dont belong in a genre? what about the Adele, Colbie Caillat, Regina Spector, Ingrid Michealson, Jack Johnson (just to name a few) people? i guess we don't exist? ok fine. what ever.
This is terrible, wrongly categorized artists, no modern music sales are counted (21st century sales). This hub means nothing!
Slightly disappointed heavy metal isn't in the top 10, but I expected as much. Love it anyway!
Elvis is NOT POP, NEITHER IS THE BEETLES DUHH
Thanks
Where is j. Bieber on here
Hip Hop is more then a music
word! very informational.
It's funny how americans classify all of latin music under one single umbrella, while they have lots of sub-genres for their music. I guess that depends on who's on top of the world, if we hispanics were on top (if the North were the South), then maybe there would be lots of latin genres: romantic salsa, son, guaracha, cha-cha-cha, guaguanco, cumbia, reggae, reggaeton, timba, merengue, bachata, AND one single genre: american music! But well, this is the way things are, just everyone has to love their stuff.
Nice... good to know hip-hop is far from the top... I thought they sell a lot of albums... thanks for the info
Where's Punk Rock and Ska?

You're wrong. What's this based on? You got Michael Jackson under "Rock"?
